Diplomas are exciting new qualifications that are currently being offered by a selected partnership of Schools, Colleges and Work Based Learning Providers in Kirklees. The courses are for 14-19 year old Learners and are available as a year 9 option choices through your School.

In September 2008 in Kirklees, we began running our first two diplomas, in 2009 we added five and in 2010 are adding one more to make 8. A one year group graduated successfully in 2009 and the first two year courses finish this summer, 2010. We anticipate very good outcomes for Learners who may not have achieved as much through a traditional academic route.

Humanities, Languages and Science have been withdrawn by the Government in 2010, but all others will continue as Year 9 options to Learners by their Schools. The latest information on recent changes to qualifications and the curriculum are detailed on the DFE website.
