Have a look at the BBC bitesize website: www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/ict/implications/3healthandsafetyrev4.shtml

Always sit comfortably when working at a computer. This site tells you how

4.

If you find anything that uses bad language or offensive images, make sure you tell a teacher or other adult. Be very careful that you do not send anything like this to other people

5.

You are responsible for your password and for your account
You should inform a member of staff if you think your password has been taken or used by others
Any harassment of others of any kind or inappropriate use, will be considered a serious issue

6.

Do not store any individual file over 250K unless it is part of your course. Any attempt to hack into areas you are not allowed to go will be dealt with seriously

You must respect copyright by saying where you got information or images that you use

9.

You should be ready to discuss work with others using E-Learning, but you must not copy any work

10.

You must keep to the internet and network rules of any location (such as a School or College) where you are using Digitalbrain

Note and warning : Improper use will result in your School/College being informed. It can lead to your account being frozen and access denied

The steps we will take if improper use occurs, will be :

  1. Warning to you (possibly by email) and your School/College informed
  2. Warning and temporary removal of access to all but Courses you attend online, and your School/College informed
  3. You will be informed of your removal from the Learning Platform and we will discuss with your School/College other possible actions that may be taken

If we consider the incident is serious enough, then we may take the last of these steps immediately

The law on copyright is very complex but some information is given in this link:

http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/copyright_questions

As a guide:

  • If you or your School/College/WBLP has bought an item then you are allowed to use it. If you have produced it yourself it is yours to use

  • In any other case you should get permission by contacting the organisation concerned or seeing if they have any information on their website about it.

  • Many will allow you to use it, where it is for educational purposes.

  • Copyright covers anything that someone has produced including computer files, books and performances (such as music). Students should ask a teacher if they are not sure
